STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Mariners Harbor resident Frank Califano, 72, a retired truck driver, died yesterday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton. Born in Jersey City, he moved to Mariners Harbor in 2010. Mr. Califano worked as a Truck Driver for Legge Industries until his retirement in 2007. He served in the U.S. Marines. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Mariners Harbor resident Frank Califano, 72, a retired truck driver, died yesterday in Richmond University Medical Center, West Brighton.
Born in Jersey City, he moved to Mariners Harbor in 2010.
Mr. Califano worked as a Truck Driver for Legge Industries until his retirement in 2007.
He served in the U.S. Marines.
He enjoyed watching horse races, and was remembered by his family for his care and compassion nature. His daughter, Eileen Seybuck, said the relationship he had with his grandchildren displayed that the most.
His wife of 10 years, the former Rose Lopez, died in 2005.
In addition to his daughter Eileen, surviving are another daughter, Kathleen Anastasio; two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be tomorrow from the Virginia Funeral Chapel, Dongan Hills, with a mass at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Church R.C. Church, Dongan Hills. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
