Frank Lovoi, 96, of San Jose, CA, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2014. Frank was born June 29, 1918, in Campbell CA, to Vincent and Catherine (Chirco) Lovoi.

Frank was born and raised in Campbell, graduating from Campbell High School in 1937. He was a graduate of San Jose State University and was very involved with college clubs, sports, many extracurricular activities, and served as president of his fraternity.

Frank went on to begin a 25-year career with the Moreland School District as school principal at Elvira Castro Jr. High and Coventry Elementary in San Jose. He proudly served our nation in the US Air Force during WWII as a bombardier and instructor, and retired after 22 years of service, through the reserves, as Lt. Col.

He was an active member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, San Jose BPOE Elk's Lodge #522, Sons In Retirement, California Teachers Association, Kiwanis Club, Italian American Heritage Foundation, and many other charitable and community organizations.

Frank was an avid golfer; he enjoyed keeping up with sports, traveling the world with his late wife Arline, and tending to his fruit, vegetable, and flower gardens. Frank's zest for life, sense of humor, courage, and indomitable spirit touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with; he will be deeply missed and proudly remembered.

He is preceded in death by his wife Arline, brother Anthony Lovoi, and sister Ann Parbury (Drexel). He is survived by his daughters Lauren Lovoi of Stockton, Marsha Steffens of Rancho Cordova, Gail Segerstrom of El Dorado Hills, step-daughters Brita Harris of Moraga, Margit Oklevik-Laux of San Jose, nine grandchildren, and an extended family of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their children.

Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services, August 2, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 5100 Camden Ave., San Jose. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations to St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, address above.
