Frank Moniz, age 72, of Dartmouth passed away September 23, 2010. He was the husband of Laverne E. (Martin) Moniz. Born in Acushnet, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Medeiros) Moniz, he spent most of his life in Dartmouth. An Industrial Mechanic, he worked for NEFCO in Quincy for 19 years. Prior to that he worked as a Tankerman for Boston Tow for several years and as an Oilman for his family business Moniz Heating in Dartmouth until 1973.
A United States Coast Guard Veteran, he served for 10 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Moniz enjoyed playing cards and was an avid football fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife: son Matthew F. Moniz and his wife Kelli of No. Dartmouth, daughter Michele J. Plante and her husband Eric of Wareham, sisters Anna Ocenas of Raynham, Rose Botelho of Dartmouth, Emily Steele and her husband Bob of Dartmouth, Lorraine Szyndlar and her husband John of Prospect, CT, grandchildren Alix and Connor Moniz, many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Virginia Botelho, Mary Taylor, Evelyn Payne and Manuel Moniz.
A Celebration of His Life will be held Tuesday September 28, 2010 at 6 PM in WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd Dartmouth. His family will receive friends in the funeral home from 5-6 PM Tuesday prior to His Service.
