Obituary

Frank Dee Rees passed away peacefully, May 14, 2013 at age 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank David and Ella Irene (Verge) Rees. Frank is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Violet Rees of Bainbridge Island; his three nephews, Dave Rees and wife Katherine of Tacoma; Tom Rees, wife Nancy, and children Cole and Blake of Bainbridge Island; Rich Rees, wife Lori, and children Brody and Liam of Lynnwood, all of whom Frank loved very much. Frank Dee Rees passed away peacefully, May 14, 2013 at age 80. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank David and Ella Irene (Verge) Rees. Frank is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Gary and Violet Rees of Bainbridge Island; his three nephews, Dave Rees and wife Katherine of Tacoma; Tom Rees, wife Nancy, and children Cole and Blake of Bainbridge Island; Rich Rees, wife Lori, and children Brody and Liam of Lynnwood, all of whom Frank loved very much.
Frank attended Seattle Public Schools where he started at Bryant Grade School and then onto Roosevelt High School graduating in the class of 1950. He attended the University of Washington where he studied Business Administration with a specialty in accounting. Following his schooling, Frank enlisted in the US Navy and served on a destroyer, the USS Nichols, as a Petty Officer in Personnel. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor and had tours that took him to Japan and throughout the Pacific.
In addition to his career as a travel agent on Capital Hill in Seattle and real estate entrepreneur, Frank enjoyed cruising and traveling with family and friends. He was a long time active member of the University Presbyterian Church starting as a youngster and enjoying his association through adulthood. Frank enjoyed people and loved to talk and discuss their experiences and will be remembered for his outgoing personality. After a severe stroke slowed Frank down in 2007, he moved to Bainbridge Island where he had been living at Wyatt House Retirement Center for the past six years. His family thanks friends and staff there for all their kindness.
A graveside service for the immediate family is scheduled for May 22nd at Acacia Memorial Park in Seattle. A memorial service for all his friends and family is planned for June 5th at 1 pm at University Presbyterian Church, 4540 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105.
