Funeral service for Sergeant First Class Franklin D. Hopes, U.S Army Retired, 83, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary with Dr. Bill Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Anniston Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Hopes passed away Tuesday at his home.
Survivors include his children, Franklin D. Hopes II (Agnieszka), Victoria Ruff (Steven) and Bambi Ledbetter (Jerry); grandchildren, Jessica Ledbetter, Jason Ledbetter (Kelly), Jill Bain (Matt), Michelle Stewart (Paul), and Stephanie Danielle Ruff; great-grandchildren, Austin McFall, Dacie McFall, Kayleigh McFall, Steven Stewart, Adam Stewart, and Kacie Ledbetter; sister, Patricia Hopes and brother David Hopes.
Mr. Hopes is preceded in death by his wife, Joan Hopes and three brothers. Mr. Hopes was born in Sheffield, Iowa, but lived in Alabama most of his life. He served in the United States Army from 1952-1979, was stationed at Ft. McClellan, and retired as Sgt. First Class
