Lifelong Oklahoma City resident, Fred Robert "Buddy" Reinauer passed away peacefully Sunday, October 13th, 2013 and now rests peacefully with our Heavenly Father. Buddy was born on October 3rd, 1924 to Fred Robert Reinauer and Clara Mae Rutherford Reinauer. Buddy was the middle child with an older sister, Louise-Summers and a younger brother, Franklin Reinauer. The Reinauer name was identifiable whenever people spoke of car dealerships in Oklahoma City. "Reinauer Brother's Motors and Imports", located at 9th and Broadway in Oklahoma City, they sold Chrysler, Triumphs and Studebakers. Buddy followed in his father's footsteps and became the owner/manager of Reinauer Brother's Automotive Company. He continued in this career until 1968.
Buddy attended Central High School, and later transferred to OMA, Oklahoma Military Academy, graduating in 1943. He then enlisted in the United States Army, and following his training at Fort Knox Tennessee, he was assigned to the 771 Tank Regiment under General Patton's Third Army Corp. He participated in both the Battle of the Bulge, and Battle of Leige in Belgium. Buddy was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.
Upon his return, he met Wilma Mae Atchley, and they were married in April 1945. They had three children, Sheri Louise, Fred Robert III, and Anne Marie. Following his career in the automobile industry, he moved to Hereford, Texas and became a farmer/rancher. This new found passion lasted until 1992, at which time he returned to his roots in Oklahoma City.
Buddy will be remembered by his friends for his quick wit, genuine smile and prankster personality. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
Buddy was preceded in death by his wife Wilma, his younger brother Franklin and close friend Barbara Reid. He is survived by his older sister Louise-Reinauer-Summers, his three children, Sheri Reinauer Waugh and husband Scott, his son Fred Robert Reinauer and his wife Judy, and his daughter Anne Marie Reinauer. Buddy has four grandchildren, Scott Waugh, Chris Waugh, Maggie Waugh-Belden, and Megan Elizabeth Reinauer Couples, and six great grandchildren.
Buddy loved life and had many friends. He will be missed by many but he will leave a legacy of laughter and many funny stories. Those stories will be shared by family and friends for years to come. He was a loving husband, super father and great father-in-law.
On Wednesday, October 16th, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a prayer and remembrance service for Buddy. This service will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street &Draper, located at 63rd and Broadway in Oklahoma City.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 17th, 10:00 a.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Edmond, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oklahoma Honor Flights serving WWII Veterans or the American Heart Association.

Reinauer Bros. Motor Company - fond memories. My husband and I married in 1958; he worked in service. I was "the baby"; 20 years old, newly married, country girl came to the big city. Back then a couple of times a month the motor company "family" would meet at Lake Carl Blackwell for an outing. Mr. Johnny supplied the hamburger meat and hot dogs; we'd take grills, cook out, boat, water ski. A good time for all.
Franklin R and my husband Don decided I should learn to water ski; never mind that I couldn't swim a lick and didn't like water over my head. I tried and tried. Buddy had been watching this whole "process"; he came over, said something to Franklin and Don; they left. Then with that big grin and a hug he said "I'm going to teach you to ski. Instructions and then, "I'm going to be behind you on the skis; when you're up and have your balance I'll bail off and you'll ski around the lake. I DID. He met me, gave me a grin and a hug "now, do you want to do it again"?
I looked him straight in the eyes and said "I'll NEVER ski again, I promise".
Every time we met afterwards, even after the motor company was sold, the big grin, a hug and "been water skiing lately?" Nope - made you a promise.
I have kept that promise for 56 years.
He was truly one of a kind.
Blessings for you, his family.

We had an amazing friend, mentor, father-figure, and all-around genuine blessing in our lives...our beloved Buddy Reinauer. He taught me so many lessons about how to be a leader, be gracious, and pass-it-on. I wish only to be a fraction of the human being that mirrored in his every day life. God bless him and all of his wonderful family!
I loved how he re-named everyone. I was Roser, Judy was Judith Ann and Glenda Montiel was the liar. That was if he could remember our names, he would call roll, usually starting with calling us Wilma then Sheri and name at least 4 others and ending with the dogs name.
Love ya Buddy, the world won't be the same without you.

I am an OMA alumni and noticed his OBIT in the paper this morning. I am from the Class of 1955 but wanted to say how proud we were of Fred. I am sorry for your loss.
