Fred Wayne Burroughs, 84, of Athens, GA passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
A native of Cordele, GA, Mr. Burroughs was the son of the late Walter Eugene Burroughs and Matry Moss Burroughs and was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Berryman Burroughs, and brothers Walter Burroughs and Lester Burroughs. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Burroughs was a member of Hull Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon and treasurer. Mr. Burroughs was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
Survivors include son, Philip Wayne Burroughs of Athens; daughter, Kim Camille Little and husband, Jerry of Ringgold, GA; brother, Bobby Burroughs and wife, Mary Lois of Harlem, GA, and grandchildren, Erin Little, Amanda Little, and Clint Little.
Funeral services will be held 2PM Friday, January 25th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev Randy Crowe and Rev Jerry Little officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, January 24th at Bernstein.
