Fred Hardy Pierce, 80, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at 11:55p.m. on January 1, 2014. He was born on December 30, 1933 to Charlie and Jennie Donahue Pierce in the Smokey Cove community near Singer, Louisiana and lived all of his life in the DeQuincy/Singer area.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Hill on December 12, 1953 and together they cherished 60 years of a happy and blessed marriage. He is also survived by his daughter Laurie Adams and her husband, Jerome and his son William (Bill) Fred Pierce and his wife, Rachel. God blessed his legacy with four grandchildren, Brandon Hall, William Pierce II, Tiffany Kratzer and Jennie Pierce along with four great-grandchildren, Jarett and Hayden Hall, and Cameron and Liam Pierce. His bonus grandsons are Glynn and Trenton Domingue, and his bonus great-granddaughters are Hailee and Dakota O'Neal and Mollie Domingue.
He began working at an early age to provide for himself and his ailing parents and throughout his life he instilled in his children the value of hard work and an honest work ethic. By example he lived his life in the belief that a person's word was found in a person's hand when that hand was offered. He carried this belief when he founded and operated his own independent insurance agency in DeQuincy and then later when he became a producer of oil and natural gas until his retirement.
He proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army in Korea and enjoyed with much happiness hunting and fishing with his family. He was a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in DeQuincy. His funeral will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, January 4, at Hixson Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy with Rev. Jerry Hext and Rev. Bob Colquitt officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 3 from 5:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. and will resume at 8:00 on Saturday until service time. Burial will be in Newlin Cemetery in Singer.
