Fred J. Proietti April 22, 2011 Fred J. Proietti, 85, of Solvay, passed away Friday April 22nd at Francis House in Syracuse. A life resident of Solvay, he was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Fred was employed by NY Central Railroad for 20 years before retiring as a switch operator and then pursued a career at Niagara Mohawk where he worked in the service department for 20 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member and past president of the Solvay Tigers AC and Community Youth Center, past president and member of the Niagara Mohawk Pensioners Club, a member of Cross Lake-Seneca River Association, he was actively involved with the...

Fred J. Proietti, 85, of Solvay, passed away Friday April 22nd at Francis House in Syracuse. A life resident of Solvay, he was a US Army Veteran of World War II. Fred was employed by NY Central Railroad for 20 years before retiring as a switch operator and then pursued a career at Niagara Mohawk where he worked in the service department for 20 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member and past president of the Solvay Tigers AC and Community Youth Center, past president and member of the Niagara Mohawk Pensioners Club, a member of Cross Lake-Seneca River Association, he was actively involved with the Solvay PTA and Boy Scouts and he was a longtime communicant of St. Cecilia Church. Fred was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Wickham) in 1984 and companion Marie Rockwell in 2009.

He is survived by 6 sons; Frederick, of Rushville, Gerald (Amanda), of Louisville, KY, James (Kathleen), of Lakeland, Thomas (Elizabeth), of West Hartford, CT, David (Eileen), of Richmond, VA and Charles (Angela), of Roseboom, 2 daughters; Ilse (Sigi) Eckstein, of Germany and Lucia (Wesley) Begg, of Toronto, Canada, 1 sister; Judith Pangborn, of Solvay, 1 brother; Joseph (Rose), of Aiken, SC, 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday April 27th at 8:15 am in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9 am in St. Cecilia Church, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday April 26th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave.
