Deacon Frederick Charles MemLeb, Jr., Dominic (Conf.) Benedict (3rd order), went to our Lord and Savior on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 12:44 pm. He was 74. Beloved husband of Carol Rita Alexander MemLeb. Father of Mary Webre (Brian), Rachel Lopez (Ivan) and Frederick A. "Ricky" MemLeb (Katie). Grandfather of Lindsay Clark (Marcus), Belinda Lopez, Brandon Webre, Lance Lopez and Wesley Webre. Son of the late Frederick C. MemLeb, Sr. and Mildred Backhaus. Brother of Dianne Scheib (the late Edward Scheib), Janell Weber (Alan), Robert MemLeb (Doreen), and Lori Keir (Dan).
Mr. MemLeb was ordained deacon in 1976 and served at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church since then. He graduated from Loyola in 1965 and later received a master's degree in psychiatric social work at LSU. He was also a former lecturer in Sociology at Loyola and was a counselor with the state of Louisiana for 38 years. He attended St. Raphael's Grammar School where he was in the first Communion class, the first Confirmation class and the first graduating class. He was also in Cor Jesu High School's first graduating class. Fred loved to pray, cook, use the computer, set up trains, and above all, spend time with his family and friends. Special thanks to Chateau de Notre Dame Nursing Home, Notre Dame Hospice, East Jefferson Hospital, Fresenius Dialysis Clinic and R & R Home Care.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11: 00 am at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, corner of N. Starrett Rd. and W. Metairie Ave in Metairie, LA. Visitation will begin at the church at 9:00 am. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Contributions to Catholic Charities, 1000 Howard Avenue, Suite 200, New Orleans, LA 70113 or to the family to help defer medical and funeral expenses are appreciated. If contributing to Catholic Charities, please acknowledge Mr. MemLeb as the honoree and whom you would like acknowledged along with their address.
