Frederick L. Cobb Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 13, 2017.

Frederick Lewis Cobb, 74 passed away June 7, 2017 at Beaumont Hospital in Wayne, MI.

Frederick was born June 2, 1943 in Detroit MI. He was the son of Verne and Laura Cobb. He began ice skating at the age of 6. He continued skating as a teenager, playing on a hockey team -- hockey became one of his favorite hobbies. He also loved boating, water skiing, and fishing with his family as a child. He graduated from Redford High School in 1961. Fred married his first wife Terry in March 1966. Together they had 2 beautiful boys, Mark and Phillip Cobb. As a family they enjoyed traveling to Northern Michigan.

Fred had amazing tenor voice and began singing in a barber shop quartet. He was also a choir member and deacon at Silvery Lane Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights. In 1973, he started working for Ford Motor Company as a carpenter. After 30 years of dedication, Frederick retired from Ford.

Fred met Sharlene, who became his second wife and they enjoyed working together on various carpentry jobs. They spent much of their time biking, swimming, cooking, walking through the park appreciating nature, and vacationing.

Fred enjoyed the simple things in life. Watching hockey (especially the Red Wings) on TV along with old westerns and action movies while fighting to stay awake to watch them. Fred was an honest, very loving, funny, humble but stubborn man; he always wanted things his way. If you ever had the pleasure of watching TV with Fred, you would know that there was no negotiating the channel or the extremely loud volume with him. Yet through the stubbornness, you knew he loved you with all his heart.

He is survived by his wife and life partner of over 13 years, Sharlene Cobb; her children he loved as his own Shannon, Marian, Lloyd, and Renee' (Nay-Nay). His children, Mark (and his wife Casandra) Cobb, Phillip (and former wife Rebecca) Cobb; his sisters, Donna (and her husband Roger Hall), and Laura Wylie; his older brother Verne Cobb; and his grandchildren: Drew, Olivia, Jared, David, Derek, and Jessie (Peanut) Cobb, Jaydn Wilson, Lailah Shafer, Jesse Ayler, Sharice, Asiana and Keith Wilson. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Frederick is preceded in death by his parents Verne and Laura Cobb, and his brother in law John Wylie.
