Fredrick "Wilson" Davis, 88, a resident of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg.
He was born May 23, 1922, near Verbena in Page County, and was the son of the late Hubert Clinton and Coral Secrist Davis.
Wilson lived all of his life in Shenandoah and was a self-employed carpenter. Before retiring, he had been employed with Virginia Oak Tannery in Luray and Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, Md. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed woodworking and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
On March 15, 1947, he married Margie Marie Beaghan, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Beverly Hilliards and husband, Rondel; two grandchildren, Rhonda Campbell and husband, Arthur, and Ryan Hilliards and wife, Tricia; six great-grandchildren, Aaron, Adam and Alicia Campbell, Autumn and Summer Hilliards, and Gunner Housden, all of Luray; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at St. Peters Lutheran Church or friends may call at the home of his daughter at any time.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at the church with the Revs. Mark Briehl and Patti Covington officiating. Burial will follow in the Methodist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church in his memory.
