Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 25, 2013.

Died November 22 in his 95th year, just 4 months after the loss of his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Glover). Also predeceased by his parents Gordon and Winifred, his brother, Irwin (Bill), and sister Jean. Bert is survived by his loving sons Bert (Suzanne) and Robert (Sherry) and devoted daughter Janet (Rush). Remarkable Papa to Emma, Sam, Ted (Sarah), Kathryn, Maddie, Alex, Max and Zoe. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Brother-in-law to Patricia Glover Zakrzewski, Jack Glover, and Rodger Glover. Bert was the owner and Funeral Director of Brown Bros. Funeral Home, Brown Bros. Ambulance, and Brown Bros. Hearse Hire and Removal Service. Along with his brother, Bill, they were active on the home front during WWII, having the Federal contract for the transport of Veterans, injured and deceased. Bert served as President of the Hamilton and District, and the Ontario Board of Funeral Services. A longtime member of the Hamilton East Lions Club and recipient of the Helen Keller Award for Humanitarian Service. Recently awarded his 70-year long service medal from Acacia Lodge, Hamilton Masonic District B. Devoted to a life of funeral service, Bert continued to work until he was 85 years old. Special thanks to Dean Edwards, CCAC (Susan O'Riley), the Paramed PSWs, Dave Farr, NP, the Community Revera RNs, and the kindness of the staff at the Village of Wentworth Heights. I was so sorry to hear about your father.

I only got to talk to him once while working on the family tree but never got to meet him. I would have like too though. He was very helpful.

Hold all your precious memories of your parents close to you & share them with each other.

Dear Janet, Bert,Robert and family,

So sorry to hear of the passing of your dad - only 5 mos after your mom. My memories of your dad bring a smile to my face. He was a kind and gentle man and I loved the times when he, Phyllis and other family members gathered to sing, eat and socialize at Auntie Pat's farm. He was fortunate to have had such loving and devoted care from his family. I'm sorry for your loss and wish you strength in the weeks and months ahead. Love, Tamara
