George J. Arnt Jr., 88, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 at Cedar Haven. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane Miller Arnt, who died on January 8th, 1996. He was born in Lebanon on August 18th, 1923, son of the late George and Elizabeth Kolla Arnt. He retired from the former Bethlehem Steel Plant in Lebanon, prior to that he worked for many years at the Cornwall Ore Mines up to the 1972 Agnes Flood. He was a veteran in the U.S. Navy serving on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Independence during WWII. Mr. Arnt was a member of the St Gertrude's Club and the Maennerchor Club. He enjoyed going to yard sales, watching football and working around the house, and especially loved the comfort of his dogs that gave him enjoyment and companionship. He is survived by a son Larry L. Arnt; two brothers: Frank and Peter Arnt; seven sisters: Anna Tice of Pine Grove; Catherine Swoyer; Elsie Rasmusser; Josephine Ditzler; Francis Boyer; Theresa Kale and Barbra Weatherholtz all of Lebanon; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Rohland Funeral Home Inc. 508 Cumberland Street, Lebanon, Pa., 17042 on Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 at 9:00a.m. Procession will leave at 9:30 to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery for Graveside services at 10:00a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Cedar Haven Nursing Home 590 S. 5th Avenue, Lebanon, Pa., 17042.
