Gussie F. Elley passed away on December 21, 2013 at the age of 84. He was born in McQueeney, TX to Alvin and Adelia Elley on July 29, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Albert, Melton, Raymond and Clarence Elley.
Gussie survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Myrtle Elley; their children, Russell Elley and wife Alissa, Ronald Elley and wife Judy, Gay Riedel and husband Gerald; his sisters, Dorothy Dotson and Della Arbuckle; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7110. He retires from the Southern Pacific Railroad after 25 years of service and was also a member of Grace Memorial Church of New Braunfels.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Memorial Church @ 3240 Fm-725, New Braunfels, TX 78130; VFW Post #7110 @ 600 Peace Ave, New Braunfels TX 78130; or to the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation @ Broadway, Suite 1509 New York, NY 10018.
Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home from 5-8 pm on Thursday, December 26th. Funeral services will commence at 10 am on December 27th, 2013 also at Goetz Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Cork presiding. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park with military honors provided by the United States Army and VFW Post #7110. Serving as Pallbearers include Colton Riedel, Cory Riedel, Ronald Joseph Elley, Michael Gussie Elley, Ranchard Backus and Trey Lively.
