Garry Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 9, 2013.

GARRY DEAN MOORE, 61, born in Indianapolis on March 6th 1952, passed away Wednesday, October 09, 2013, with his wife and sons by his side. He's survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Susan Clift Moore and his two sons James William and Thomas Payne, and God (his family as he would call it).

A prominent and respected business leader in Indianapolis, he was the Managing Partner for Amco Elevators as well as served on the National Association of Elevator Contractors board of directors. Previously, he had his own consulting firm, JTM Consulting as well as owning his own CPA firm, with his partner Dan Choate. He was also the CEO/CFO of HyTech (now Morrell). He graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1970 and from Indiana University with a B.S. in Accounting. He obtained his CPA license as well as his MBA from Butler in 1993. He was extremely proud of those as well as the renowned executive business programs he completed at Booth School at the University of Chicago. His love for learning and developing and running businesses was only surpassed by the love he had for his wife and his two sons.

Though he wasn't always vocal about it, his actions always said I love you and care about you. For those he cared about, he would do absolutely anything. His generosity and thoughtfulness were unsurpassed. The most loyal, honest, and loving friend, father and husband anyone could ask for. He could have given up on several people on numerous occasions, but just as with his own life, he fought with all he had until the very end.

He will be remembered for his intelligence and charm, as well as his physical size and the size of his heart. Those who knew him could see all of these qualities at the first glance. Though big in stature, and often intimidating with his very deep and resounding voice, he had the heart of a teddy bear. Incredibly intelligent and yet always seeking to gain more knowledge. He worked hard to improve his relationships with people as he grew older and those relationships grew stronger. He was an inspiring leader and fierce protector of his family.

His parents, William E. Moore and Emma Alice Moore Shields have passed away. His deceased relatives are William Moore (brother) and Sandra Moore Bedwell (sister). His living siblings include: Patti Moore Heltsley (Sister), Sam Heltsley (brother-in-law), Lori Bedwell Miller (Niece), Amanda Heltsley Vonderfecht (Niece), Josh Heltsley (Nephew), Mike Shields (Step-Brother), Paula Shields (Step-Sister) and Brenda Davis (Step-Sister).

Visitation will be held at Little and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.

Garry always was a gentleman. He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He did a great job at Amco Elevators. I am so thankful for what he did for us there. He worked many long days, and he helped us through many trials.
Dear God, please bless his family, he loved them so much. They were the reason he worked so hard. He was so proud of his sons. Please help Becky. As she faces this next part of her life. In Jesus name, Amen

Proud to have counted Garry as a friend. He will be deeply missed. Looking at the pictures brought back memories of the gentle laugh and the menacing scowl. When Garry spoke people listened. Love ya man.
