Gary Harris, Sr., 58, of Hayward, WI died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Grand View Hospital in Ironwood, MI.
Gary Grant Harris was born September 19, 1953 in Ashland, WI to Wayne E. and Beatrice B. (Edder) Harris, Sr. Gary moved to Hayward in 1957 with his family, where he attended school and graduated from Hayward High School. In 1973 he married Karen Johnson, and in 1974 he joined the Navy and proudly served his country. During the last 9 years, Gary owned and operated Fragrant Septic in Hayward. He was a well-known gunsmith for over 20 years, as he loved anything to do with guns almost as much as he loved to hunt. Gary enjoyed reloading ammunition, trapshooting, fishing, bowling, golfing, and restoring old trucks. He was a member of the Cable Rod & Gun Club. Gary loved his "four-legged companions", with his last dog "Lobo" being among his favorites. He will be remembered as being a kind man with a gentle soul who will be greatly missed.
Gary is survived by his wife, Karen; sons Joshua, Travis (Anne), and Gary Jr. (Angie); granddaughters Erikah and Emmelie; brother Wayne (Bev); sister Sharon (Dave) Kuschel; beloved niece Shelly; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jack.
A memorial service honoring Gary's life will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 5:00 pm at the Anderson-Nathan-Koerpel Funeral Home in Hayward. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

First time we met Gary was 8 years ago when he came with his sanitation business and he remembered me from school because I hung out with Sharon in school. From then on he always had so many interesting stories and talks about his family and his love of everything about the outdoors. So sorry to all of the Harris family in this time of Gary leaving for another place now in his life.
