Gary Joseph Acosta
June 26, 1955 – September 22, 2013

Gary Joseph Acosta, 58, a native and lifelong resident of Morgan City passed away Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center.
Gary is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debra LaFleur Acosta of Morgan City; three daughters, Amanda Smith and her husband, Dean, of Colorado, Maurita Morell and her husband, Mark, of Morgan City, and Katie Rock and her husband, Nicholas, of Berwick; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Luke, Blake, Brett, Drew, Jillian, Drake, and Gabriella; his father and mother, Nolan and Viney Acosta; three brothers, David and his wife, Monica, Ricky and his wife, Sonya, and Brent and his wife, Julie; and his father and mother-in-law, Cedric and Rowena LaFleur; his four sister-in-laws, Jolene and her husband, Jamie, Peggy, Patience and Cindy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Gary was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren. Paw never missed a sports function that any of them took part in. He enjoyed bringing them fishing and sharing stories with his family. He was passionate about horseracing and car racing.
The family requests that a time of remembrance and reflection be observed Wednesday, September 25, 2013 from 9:00am until time of dismissal at 10:30am at Hargrave Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00am at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City with Gary being laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

Debbie, my heart goes out to you and your family, I have known Gary for over 30 years and worked with him almost as many. He was a great person and loved his family so much. There are no words to explain the loss of this old friend. Even though I have been gone from home for nearly 26 years, one day out of the blue I got a call from my brother Larry and he said he had an old friend of mine in his office, and to my surprise it was Gary.
