Gary Luzerne Boyce, born May 20, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away at home on July 4, 2014. Gary joined the US Navy in 1952 beginning as an Airman on the U.S.S. Tarawa during the Korean War, and then achieved the rank of Yeoman 1st class. In 1957 he joined the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant stationed out of the Westover Air Force Base. After serving his country he began his colorful civilian career. After entrepreneurial adventures, he began working with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1963. He and his wife Patricia transferred with IBM to Cary, NC in 1979, until he "retired" in 1987. In 2001 he joined Midwest Airlines until 2003....
Gary Luzerne Boyce, born May 20, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away at home on July 4, 2014. Gary joined the US Navy in 1952 beginning as an Airman on the U.S.S. After serving his country he began his colorful civilian career. After entrepreneurial adventures, he began working with IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1963. He and his wife Patricia transferred with IBM to Cary, NC in 1979, until he "retired" in 1987. In 2001 he joined Midwest Airlines until 2003. He was a talented woodworker and began The Home and Garden Depot where he loved building beautiful birdhouses and feeders that found homes worldwide.
Survivors include his grade school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Patricia Osterhoudt Boyce, son Gary Michael Boyce, daughter Kathleen Hart (husband Michael), daughter Lorelei Moore (husband George), and was a very proud grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother Marion, father Robert, brother Ronald, and daughter Diana Lou Kibler.
A celebration of Gary's life and visitation with the family will be at their home on Thursday, July 10, located at 704 Riverton Pl, Cary, NC 27511, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Condolences may also be left at www.BrownWynneCary.Com.
