Gary D. Martin, 74, of Little Rock, passed away August 6, 2014. He was born to the late Elmer Harold Martin and Goldia A Gearheart on June 16, 1940 in Sciotoville, Ohio. He moved to Arkansas in 1958 to join the Air Force. After his military service, he worked in the tire business until he joined the Little Rock Police Department in 1974. During his 26 years with LRPD, he served on the DEA Task Force receiving Officer of the Year in 1993 and retired in 2000. He was an active member of East Union Baptist Church. Gary D. Martin, 74, of Little Rock, passed away August 6, 2014. He was born to the late Elmer Harold Martin and Goldia A Gearheart on June 16, 1940 in Sciotoville, Ohio. He moved to Arkansas in 1958 to join the Air Force. After his military service, he worked in the tire business until he joined the Little Rock Police Department in 1974. During his 26 years with LRPD, he served on the DEA Task Force receiving Officer of the Year in 1993 and retired in 2000. He was an active member of East Union Baptist Church. Gary loved to camp, fish, travel and spend time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He was a very caring, loving, entertaining, family-centered husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and a grandson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy; children, Tony (Kathleen) Martin, Ed (Kim) Martin, Terry (Carolyn) Martin, Robin (John) Berry, Kalynn (Keith) Sanders and Kevin (DeLaine) Martin; grandchildren, Josh, Andrew, Emily, Allie, Grant, Sarah (Clay), Ellen, Emma, Shawn and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Grace, Callie and Lila; two sisters, Phyllis (John) Hall and Nicole Kitchen. Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 2-4 PM with funeral services on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10 AM both at East Union Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery with Paul Roberts officiating all services. Arrangements are by Griffin Leggett Funeral Home Healey & Roth 661- 9111.
