Twin Falls, Idaho:

Gary Dale Rene, 72, of Twin Falls, Idaho passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at River Ridge Care Center from Leukemia.

Gary was born October 14, 1940 in Boise, Idaho to Harold and Ann Rene. In 1948 the family moved to Twin Falls where Gary had resided ever since. He attended St. Edwards Catholic School through the 8th grade and then Twin Falls High School.
Gary always had a love of sports. He worked at the Blue Lakes Country Club Golf Course as a grounds keeper and then started working at the Municipal Golf Course in Twin Falls. He was a dedicated golfer and made many friends through his years of golfing. Gary played every course available to him. He made a hole-in-one 3 times at Muni and was very proud of that accomplishment. He golfed up until 2012 with his golf partner Roger Bolton and all his 11:00 AM golfers. He had so much fun with all of them and missed the companionship. A lot of his family are golfers and he loved winning with them especially.
Bowling was Gary's other love and he earned several trophies and awards at the Magic Bowling Alley and gained many life-long friends there also.

He was a member of the Elks Club since 1972 and held the position of Tiler and was named Elk of the Year 1991-1992. A special thank you to all of his close Elk friends – there are too many to list. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge for several years. Gary loved playing darts, Bingo, cards and loved people.

Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mom and dad; 18 aunts and uncles; a brother-in-law Frank Martinez and 2 sisters-in-law Julie and Noni. He will be deeply missed by all of his 24 nieces and nephews; his 3 brothers and 4 sisters, Dorothy Martinez of Fremont, California, Richard "Dick" (Peggy) Rene of Tucson, Arizona; Ron Rene of Jalisco, Mexico, Marilyn (Byron) Ihnen of Selah, Washington, Connie (Wayne) Vaughan of Rupert, Idaho, Sharon (Rick) Perkins of Twin Falls, and Harold "Hal" (Julie) Rene, Jr. of Boise, Idaho.

Gary's family would like to thank Riverridge Care Center for their excellent and loving care; Penny and all the staff at DL Evans Bank; Dr. Patrick Desmond and Dr. Padavanija and all their staff; and the Reynolds Funeral Chapel staff. A very special thanks to Wayne Vaughan and his sisters Connie Vaughan and Sharon Perkins.

A Rosary service will take place at 7:30 PM on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Reynolds Funeral Chapel, 2466 Addison Avenue East in Twin Falls with special honors by the Elks of Magic Valley.
