Gary Richard Ridenour died unexpectedly at home on September 25, 2017 in Kansas City, MO at the age of 71. Gary was born on August 10, 1946 in Kansas City MO to Ottis and Betty Ridenour. He graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence MO in 1965. Gary joined the US Navy in April 1969 and served on the USS Vesuvius which was a supply ship during the Vietnam War. Gary served as a radio operator until his discharge in December 1971. He was accomplished at electronics, winning multiple awards from the Sony Company. Gary Richard Ridenour died unexpectedly at home on September 25, 2017 in Kansas City, MO at the age of 71.



Gary was born on August 10, 1946 in Kansas City MO to Ottis and Betty Ridenour. He graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence MO in 1965. Gary joined the US Navy in April 1969 and served on the USS Vesuvius which was a supply ship during the Vietnam War. Gary served as a radio operator until his discharge in December 1971. Gary married Dena Gilkerson-Moudy on December 26, 1992. He is survived by wife, Dena, sister Joetta and husband Larry, brother Tom Riley, Dena's brother Don Gilkerson and wife Verlee. Gary was preceded in death by Ottis Ridenour, father and Betty Riley, mother.



A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Sunday, October 8, 2017. It will be held at the Antioch Bible Baptist Church located at 800 NE 72nd Street, Gladstone, MO 64118. Lunch for any in attendance will be served prior to the celebration at 1:00 p.m. The Celebration Service is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.



A committal service with Military Honors will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Kansas on October 12 at 12:30pm.



Flowers may be sent to church or in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer's Association @ Alz.org. This is an underserved organization that family members of Gary's have suffered from this disease.
