I just read about Gary in the Sycamore Land Trust newsletter and am so sad! Gary seemed like part of the family. He built a beautiful screen porch for us (no drawings, just his imagination and carpentry skills) and he was at our house on 9/11. We sat and speculated and watched TV together for what seemed like hours. He would send me to the store to pick out something for the porch and nodded approvingly when I mentioned going to Kleindorfers or Kirby Risk and gave me the evil eye if I resorted to Lowe's. He also built a fence for us using recycled wood and replaced many a window. One window in particular gave him fits and he kept coming back to readjust it. It was really important to him to get it right. We often ran into him (and Barbara) around town at art fairs and sporting events and music festivals and restaurants….there seemed to be no end to his interests. I was looking forward to the time we could walk some land trust property together. We really enjoyed his work and his company, and can only imagine how much you must miss him. Our deepest sympathies…

My sympathy to the Ryser family. It was an honor to meet both Mr. and Mrs. Ryser for a very brief time when I helped transport Mr. Ryser to Hospice House last Thursday. I am very sorry for your loss.
