Kaup, Gene, who was 84 years old, of Wichita, KS passed away Fri. Mar. 27, 2015 in Wichita, KS. Gene was born on Dec. 22, 1930 in Augusta, KS. Gene was a team member of Fleming Foods Company for 31 years, after which he was the co-owner and manager of Livingston’s Café in Andover until the 1990 tornado demolished it. He later was an accredited instructor at the Wichita Area Vo-Tech for several years. His first wife Peggy worked with him in the restaurant until her death in 1990 from a brain tumor. They were married 38 years and produced 4 daughters. In 1993, the Lord provided him with his second wife, Beverly, whom he loves very much and has been the salvation in his life. Bev & Gene loved to travel, and have made many trips on Village Charter busses, have been on many cruises, and have visited several countries, including British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, a river cruise in Germany, and other. Gene was a long time member of the Downtown Wichita Cosmopolitan Club, in which he served every office including president. In 2004-2005 he was the Mo-Kan Federation Governor. Gene & Bev made many good friends both in Wichita and across Kansas & Missouri during this time served in Cosmopolitan. One of his passions was volunteering for worthwhile causes in the community, from his church where he ushered, to meals-on-wheels, driving the activity bus for Presbyterian Manor, among other, and had made a Wichita History power-point presentation which he has been showing to local senior groups. He leaves behind a family that he loves very much, his wife Beverly, and 4 beautiful daughters Jan Stark, Juli Preisser, Jeanne Shaft and Jennifer May. Grandchildren are Jacob Bollinger, Shaun Crumley and Elizabeth Preisser Great Grandchildren are Taylor and Alyssa Crumley, Lydia and Wesley Bollinger and there are many loving family members in Amarillo, TX, Nieces Mary Lou Nisbet, Sheryl Ann Blagg and several Great Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be held on Tues. Mar. 31, 2015 from 6 to 8pm. Funeral services will be at 10am on Wed. April 1, 2015 both at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th St. N., Wichita. Burial will follow 3pm at Blakeley Cemetery, Madison, KS. Memorials can be made to the International Cosmopolitan “The group that fights diabetes”, PO Box 7351, Lancaster, PA 17604. Gene Kaup family, Sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Gene at fleming in the 1960's. His wit and humor made him a joy to be around. Quick to compliment and slow to criticize, he was liked by all.
