Obituary

On July 13, 1926 in Boston GA I was born the only child of my parents and named Emmagene after my maternal grandmother Emma. One year later, we moved to Atlanta in the Inman Park area and later to the Kirkwood area where I started school. It was at Kirkwood Baptist Church, at the age of 12, that I received Christ as my Lord and Savior. Kirkwood was a good place to grow up during the depression years. My daddy worked very hard to provide for us and 50 cent piano lessons along with my mother making all my clothes. I attended Murphy Junior High then Girl's High School for one year until my daddy was transferred to Jackson, GA where I...

I attended Murphy Junior High then Girl's High School for one year until my daddy was transferred to Jackson, GA where I continued piano lessons. I graduated after the 1 1 th grade and spent one year at G.S. W. C. in Valdosta, GA. All my parents could afford and I'm grateful for that.

World War II had started and I moved to Atlanta to find a job. My first job was with an insurance company with typing as my only skill. I had always loved school and dreamed of being a teacher. I also dreamed of traveling one day to see the Oberammergau Passion Play in Germany. Becoming a teacher was not to be but God gave me the opportunity to go to Germany and other countries may years later. After WWII I met and married my husband. We had a son, Bob, who has one son who is till a bachelor. He now lives in Fleming Island, FL. Five years later, my daughter, Carole, was born and now lives in Monroe, GA. She has three daughters who each have two children. They have been a great blessing from God.

When I was 70 I had the privilege of studying watercolor painting under Mary Lou Andrews. My years have been so blessed to be part of the Blessings Class under the teaching of Barbara Fain, and my dear sisters in Christ. I was blessed to be a part of the choir for a few years and had opportunities to travel. My last trip was a mission trip to Alaska. I never dreamed I would be able to do that on my 80th birthday.

Psalms 139 helped me in many struggles. When I was afraid, Isaiah 41:10 gave me great comfort. Proverbs 3:5-6 gave me assurance when I didn't know what to do. Jeremiah 29:11 gave me hope when I was discouraged, John 3:16 is my refuge and comfort. The Word is full of God's precious promises that He loves me and gave His son Jesus Christ to redeem me and assure me that He will never leave me nor forsake me, until I go to live with Him forever.

While living here at Eastside Gardens you have blessed me with your prayers, cards, and visits for which I thank you with all my heart. We can never move outside of God's grace and love. I pray His blessings on each of you day by day to meet your every need and give you His joy.

"I'm so sorry to hear about the death of your beloved family members.May you find comfort in knowing that Jesus showed on a small scale what will soon happen..." jc (GA)
