Judy and Family:
We just found this out and we are so heart broken. I actually tried to call Gene on Friday finding his phone had been disconnected. I thought perhaps something was not good and called Mike. He just searched for him and was sad to find he passed away. He just not to many weeks ago, checked on Mike regarding his cancer. He told me then he was just going to let it take its corse but was happy and felt good about his life. Judy, I'm so sorry to you and for all of your kids and grandkids, you had one great father and grandfather and Judy, on Great Husband. We will miss him so much.. He taught us so much in our younger years of starting our business and you all played a great role in helping us getting started. We will always have your family in our hearts and will always be grateful to you for all your help along the years.
With Love

Judy, I was so saddened by Gene's passing. You know my love and prayers are with you and the rest of your family. I wish I'd have been able to visit with you for just a bit more at the funeral home; you and Gene were so good to me and taught me so much about our industry. I will never forget my years of work at Barfield's laced with Gene's mischievous humor and zest for living. The stories he would tell, the jokes he would play... all are very fond memories that I will carry all of my life.
