Gene has been a good friend since childhood - growing up in Ballinger. He was a true gentleman. As newlyweds, we invited him for supper - my first time to cook steak - it was like shoe leather but he ate it with compliments.

Gene was a really good guy who was a great friend of my parents down at the First Baptist Church. I last saw him at my mothers' service; he came up to me afterwards, and together we laughed about how he struggled (in vain) to teach me things in Sunday School ages ago.

Ann, my thoughts are with you and the rest of the family. God bless you all.
