In Memory of Genevieve (Perry) Schmitt
January 8, 1927 – November 30, 2016
Genevieve (Perry) Schmitt was born on January 8, 1927 in Benld, Illinois to the late Sisto Rolando and Pearl Savio Perino.
She was married to Don T. Schmitt on September 24, 1950. They were blessed with four children; Terry (Laura), Alan (Leslie), Eric (Karen), and Debbie (Mike) Milling. She was a loving Grandmother of seven; Erin (Chris) Yacur, Paula (Lawson) Deming, Alan Schmitt, Ryan Beverly, Josh (Rachel) Beverly, Marshall (Avonlea) Schmitt, and Gabe Schmitt. She was also a Great- Grandmother of two; Katelyn and Landon Yacur.
She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Peter Perino.
Perry became a registered nurse upon graduation from Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. After focusing on raising her four children, she returned to nursing for more than 30 years, retiring before moving to Sylva, North Carolina in 2002.
Perry selflessly gave to her husband, her family and her church. She had a life-long love of reading all types of books and grew to love the North Carolina Mountains.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016, with a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1356 Government St., Mobile, AL 36604.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Lutheran World Relief, lwr.org.
