Obituary

BROWN, GEORGE JULIAN, age 87, of Mountain Brook, AL, died peacefully at his home on Monday night, September 16, 2013. Visitation will be one hour before the 4 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Moses Mikiel Brown and Jeannie Moore Brown. Survivors include Julian's wife of 61 years, Margaret Vaughan Brown; two children, Debbie Brown Johnson (Billy) and Dave Brown (Sharon); seven beautiful granddaughters, Courtney Pardue (Jarod), Carrie Anderson (Nate), Mary Margaret Williams (John David), Katherine Johnson, Sumner Brown, Brinson Brown, and...
BROWN, GEORGE JULIAN, age 87, of Mountain Brook, AL, died peacefully at his home on Monday night, September 16, 2013. Visitation will be one hour before the 4 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Moses Mikiel Brown and Jeannie Moore Brown. Survivors include Julian's wife of 61 years, Margaret Vaughan Brown; two children, Debbie Brown Johnson (Billy) and Dave Brown (Sharon); seven beautiful granddaughters, Courtney Pardue (Jarod), Carrie Anderson (Nate), Mary Margaret Williams (John David), Katherine Johnson, Sumner Brown, Brinson Brown, and Morgan Brown; as well as three great-grandchildren. Julian was born on April 7, 1926 in College Park, GA. He graduated from Russell High School and received a mechanical engineering degree from Georgia Tech. He was a successful commercial salesman for Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation for 30 years. After his retirement from Carrier, he went to work as a commercial real estate salesman for RealtySouth. Julian was active in the Shades Valley Rotary Club, where he served as president. He also was devoted to Mountain Brook Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Dotson M. Nelson Sunday School class, a lifetime deacon, and served as chairman of the Board of Deacons. The family wishes to thank the caregivers of Interim Health Care, especially Sharita Smith and Candy Steadman, as well as Alacare Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Mountain Brook Baptist Church, 3631 Montevallo Road, Birmingham, AL 35223, or to the Educational Foundation of Shades Valley Rotary Club, P.O. Box 530342, Birmingham, AL 35253.
