George Wayne Shaw, Jr., 77, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2017, in Sanford, Florida. He was born on December 23, 1939, in Alexandria, Louisiana, to George Wayne Shaw Sr. and Iris Glasscock Shaw. He graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana, in June of 1957. Having been accepted to Georgia Tech as a co-op student, George was able to work at Martin Marietta and take night classes. On January 28, 1961, he married Judith Hammond from Alexandria, Louisiana. In June of 1962, George graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering; after graduation he and Judith moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where George worked for Cincinnati Electronics in the new field of Infrared Technology.



In March of 1977, he started a position with Lockheed Martin in Orlando, Florida, where he worked until 1988 when he left to work for Brunswick Defense in Deland, Florida. After leaving the company, George went to work for Emerge in Sebastian, Florida. Later he worked in the Defense Industry with General Dynamics in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2005 he retired from the company. In his spare time George enjoyed water skiing, jet skiing, sailing and traveling.



George is pre-deceased by his son George Wayne Shaw III who passed away in 1979. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judith Shaw, his daughter, Sharon Huffman and son-in-law Michael, his granddaughter, Gabrielle Huffman and his sisters, Sandra Shaw Williams of Texas, Carol Cameron of Washington, Linda Campbell of Louisiana and Karen Shaw Burch of Georgia. George also leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Wynona Hammond of Louisiana and Charlene Hammond of Louisiana along with numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.



A visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 12, 2018, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford. A funeral service is set to take place at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 2:00 pm with a graveside service to follow at Oaklawn Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in George's honor to one of the following, St. Jude Children's Hospital, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, or The Salvation Army.
