George F. Abele Jr., 91 of Madison passed away November 16, 2011. He was born October 8, 1920 in the Bronx, NY. He is the son of the late George Sr. and Frances (Dyson) Abele. Prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1942, George was employed by Sheffield Farms Dairy Co. as a maintenance supervisor in the Bronx, NY. George served our country overseas from 1943 to 1945 in Italy and was a mechanic on B24 Liberator Bombers, 485th Bomb Group. George married Frieda Bourgun in 1946. George was a former Allstate Insurance Company employee who retired in 1985 after 30 years as Senior Property Claims Representative. George has been a volunteer at Saybrook Convalescent Hospital for 12 years and retired officer of the Westbrook Elks B.P.O.E. 1784. George is survived by his son George of Old Saybrook and his partner Helen Arbor Young. Swan Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a future date at the Lutheran Church of Madison.
