George Wayne Allen, Colonel, USMCR (Retired), born December 14, 1923, Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on February 20, 2012. He attended high school and junior college in Kansas City, Missouri and college at the University of Missouri, Rolla, Missouri. George and Patricia Wittman were married in the Naval Academy Chapel June 7, 1947. After Basic School, Quantico, Virginia, he served with the 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California, until 1950, as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Mortar Section Commander. Until 1952, he was the Combat Cargo Officer of the USS Cavalier, APA 37. The Cavalier participated in the amphibious landings...
George Wayne Allen, Colonel, USMCR (Retired), born December 14, 1923, Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away on February 20, 2012. He attended high school and junior college in Kansas City, Missouri and college at the University of Missouri, Rolla, Missouri. George and Patricia Wittman were married in the Naval Academy Chapel June 7, 1947. After Basic School, Quantico, Virginia, he served with the 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California, until 1950, as a Rifle Platoon Commander and Mortar Section Commander. Until 1952, he was the Combat Cargo Officer of the USS Cavalier, APA 37. The Cavalier participated in the amphibious landings at Inchon and Wonsan, Korea. He was promoted to Captain in 1952. Until 1954, he was a company commander or a staff officer with the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, serving in Japan, Okinawa, Hawaii and Camp Pendleton. Then until 1935 he was Inspector Instructor with the Marine Reserve Unit in Durham, North Carolina. As a Marine Reserve he served with units in Poughkeepsie, New York, Kingston, New York, and Albany, New York, retiring in 1976. Since 1955 George has worked in various engineering and managerial assignments with the International Business Machine Corporation at Kingston, New York, Fishkill, New York, and Tucson, Arizona, retiring in 1987. Daughter Judy and husband Peter Bodnaruk and two sons live in Tucson. Dr. Roger Allen is a chiropractor in Dover, Delaware where he lives with his wife Terri and three daughters. George and Pat celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary in 2011. Arrangements under the direction of East Lawn Palms Mortuary, Tucson, AZ.
