Portland- George S. Bouchard, 82, husband of Frances (Davis) Bouchard, passed away after a short illness, Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Seaside Healthcare in Portland, ME, just one day shy of his birthday. He was born May 7, 1931, in Island Falls, ME, the son of the late Felix and Lucy (King) Bouchard. George was married to Frances on June 18, 1954. Mr. Bouchard was a graduate of the Aroostook State Teacher's College and the University of Maine, was a sixth grade Science teacher and principal of the Fort Fairfield Junior High School. Portland- George S. Bouchard, 82, husband of Frances (Davis) Bouchard, passed away after a short illness, Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Seaside Healthcare in Portland, ME, just one day shy of his birthday. He was born May 7, 1931, in Island Falls, ME, the son of the late Felix and Lucy (King) Bouchard. George was married to Frances on June 18, 1954.

Mr. Bouchard was a graduate of the Aroostook State Teacher's College and the University of Maine, was a sixth grade Science teacher and principal of the Fort Fairfield Junior High School. He was a past president and member of the Fort Fairfield Rotary Club and communicant at St. Dennis Catholic Church. Upon his retirement, he relocated to Portland, where he was a cashier at Hannaford's and president of his condo association.

George enjoyed collecting antiques (and the treasure hunting associated), gardening and decorating for Christmas. He adored cats, potato blossoms in the summer and tales from the county. He took great pride and pleasure in his family and was a loving husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Bouchard was pre-deceased by two sisters, Theresa Curtis, wife of Ben and Marie Pond, wife of Fred. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Frances of Portland, ME; a sister Jean Twist and her husband Ronald of Lincoln, ME; a brother Anthony; a son, Peter Bouchard and his wife, Sharon, of Wolcott, CT; a daughter, Holly Glidden and her husband Stephen of Westbrook, ME; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Bouchard to the Cancer Community Center, 778 Main Street, South Portland, ME 04106.

Memorial visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Jones Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ft. Fairfield, ME, at a later date.
