82, of Denver, passed quietly on April 20, 2014, surrounded by family.

He was born in Denver and grew up in West Denver, attending St. Joseph's School and Church, grades 1 – 12.
While in high school, George played football, baseball and was a boxer, as well as sports editor for the school newspaper.
George continued to actively attend St. Joseph's annual class reunions throughout his life.

After graduation, he served in the Colorado National Guard, and briefly attended Trinidad Junior College before enlisting in the Navy. He served on the USS Henrico, transporting troops during the Korean War.
When he was stationed at Treasure Island in California, he played baseball on the Naval baseball team.

He married Patricia, and together they had 5 children. They were married for 61 years.

George worked as a journeyman plumber and was an active 50-year member of the Plumbers Local #3, where his duties included being a Business Agent.
He was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters International Association.

During his career, George worked for Denver county, and as a manager, assisted in the transition of the Plumbing shop from Stapleton to DIA. After completing that major task, he retired.

Throughout his life, George participated in adult softball and bowling leagues. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing with his children.

His life-long friends, Ken Milne, Frank Pomponio, Mac Marshall, Chuck Brown, Jim Eberley, and Jack McNellis were a regular feature in his life. They, along with their wives, gathered often to celebrate holidays, special occasions and just be together.

He was active in the Hyland Hills Men's Golf Club, and for many years coached youth for Perl Mack/Hyland Hills Football and Baseball leagues.

After his retirement 20 years ago, he maintained a variety of interests, including travel, reading, enjoying his children's and grandchildren's various activities. He also enjoyed any time spent with his numerous friends.

George's life was full, and he was an endearing man who touched the lives of countless people.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; children, George M. (Julia), Stephen P. (Patty), Valerie A. and Brian R. (Lesley) Carberry; grandchildren, Brendan, Leanne, Abigail and Rachel; great-grandchild, Adrian; siblings, Robert, Edward and Mary Pat; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
