George Cowan Obituary

George L. Cowan, 91, passed away June 13, 2013 at Kimbal Medical Center in Lakewood. Mr. Cowan was born in Port Jervis, NY moving to Passaic and Clifton before settling in Lakewood for the past 14 years. He served in the Army during World War II. George was an avid Ham Radio Operator using the call sign WB2EOB. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Cowan is survived by his wife of 67 years, Catherine, children, Kathleen Sznerch and her husband Walter and George R. Cowan and his wife Susan, grandchildren, Robert, Annie, George Jr., and Michael, great grandchildren, Rose, Fritz, George, and Joseph, sister, Lillian and brother, Harry. Friends may call Sunday, June 16, 2013 from 3-6 pm at the D'Elia Funeral Home Rt. 70 & Vermont Ave. Lakewood, NJ 08701. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10:30AM at the St. Mary of the Lake Church in Lakewood. Interment will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers please make donations in George's memory to the American Diabetes Association.

I send my condolences to Mrs. Cowan and family. My grandparents live next door, Carrie and Lou. I always saw George outside cleaning up the yard. I would always say, "Hi George, how are you doing?" Well now he is at peace with The Lord. R.I.P George-Toni Lynn Santana
