George Monroe Evans, of Greenwich Ct died on Tuesday February 28, 2017. He passed peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband to the late Louise J. Evans, father and grandfather, George was born on July 4, 1930 in Pittsburgh Pa. George was the son of the late Harold G. Evans and Mary Jo Evans. George graduated Amherst College in 1952. He then served as Navigation Officer on the USS Lowry during the Korean War, before returning to obtain his MBA from Wharton School of Business. George and Louise were married in 1954. They moved from Wyomissing, Pa to Greenwich in 1964 to the home where he stayed for the remainder of his life. George and Louise raised two children, Elizabeth M. Evans and George M. Evans lll. George began his professional life with CNA Insurance. He continued his career in Marketing and Consulting when joining Booz Allen and Hamilton and Ernst and Young. He finalized his career at his private company, Evans Management in Greenwich. George is survived by his daughter Betsy and her two sons Joshua and Nicholas. His son Chip and wife Sandy, and their four sons CJ, Christopher, Charles and Chase. He is also survived by his loving sister Catherine E. Reynolds and many nephews and their families. George is also survived by his loving caregiver Sandra Brinson. George was an avid sportsman and competitor. He enjoyed competing in tennis and paddle tennis matches at Greenwich Country Club. He loved skiing, especially at Vail with friends and family. He cherished the wonderful times on Long Island Sound on the CE-BE boat with family and dear friends. There will be a private memorial.
