Eyraud, George Victor, age 84, of Mountain Brook, AL, died January 21, 2013. He was born in Walker County, AL on August 11, 1928. He was preceded in death by his mother, Trevie J. Eyraud; father, George V. Eyraud; and his brother, Ralph Eyraud. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betsy Gilliland Eyraud; daughter, Marian Eyraud Murphy; grandchildren, Shannon Nolan Connor (Bret) and Wade Bradford Nolan; and great-grandchildren, James Nolan Connor and Elizabeth Rose Connor. Eyraud, George Victor, age 84, of Mountain Brook, AL, died January 21, 2013. He was born in Walker County, AL on August 11, 1928. He was preceded in death by his mother, Trevie J. Eyraud; father, George V. Eyraud; and his brother, Ralph Eyraud. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betsy Gilliland Eyraud; daughter, Marian Eyraud Murphy; grandchildren, Shannon Nolan Connor (Bret) and Wade Bradford Nolan; and great-grandchildren, James Nolan Connor and Elizabeth Rose Connor.
He graduated from Oakman High School in 1945 as Valedictorian. He served in the Army Air Force, 1947-48, where he was stationed in Japan as a cryptographer at 5th Air Force Headquarters. He graduated from University of Alabama with a B.S. in Geology in 1951 and was a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity. He returned to the Air Force in 1951 (Korean War) and was Provost Marshall of Moody Air Force Base, Valdosta, Georgia.
He graduated from University of Alabama Law School in 1955 where he was in Phi Delta Phi law fraternity and on The Alabama Law Review. He was awarded a Kenneson fellowship at New York University in 1955 where he was Graduate Editor of the Tax Law Review and was awarded a LLM (taxation) in 1956.
He returned to private practice of law from 1961-1993. George was a member of National Academy of Arbitrators, deciding cases in the Caribbean Canal Zone and throughout the United States.
He loved his family and his home in Cashiers, NC where his family spent the summers. He also loved dogs and the Crimson Tide.
A private service will be held for the family. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, University of Alabama or John Croyle's Big Oak Ranch.
