Funeral services will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for George Melvin Glenn, 88, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Rev. Lauil Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Glenn was a veteran of WWII and received several medals of service, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was an avid rabbit hunter and a member of the Noccalula Beagle Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Alice Jean Glenn; parents: Thomas Edward Glenn and Sadie Epps Glenn; children: Gary Murphree, Shelia Buse; brothers: Bill Glenn, Ralph Glenn, Luther Glenn, Raymond Glenn, Marvin "Pedo" Glenn.
He is survived by daughter: Shirley (Joe) Williams; grandchildren: David Murphee, Melissa Saules, Gina (Jeffrey) Winkler, Kathy (Ty) Owens, Tracy Ledbetter, Pamela (Marty) Cooley, Adam (Cassie)Buse, and Patricia Williams; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters: Ann Stanford ,and Lois (Jim) Davis; sisters-in-law: Jerri Glenn, and Wanda Glenn Parr; son-in-law: Benny Buse and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Roy Watkins III, George Watkins, Trevor Owens, David Pearsall, Brad Love, Ty Owens, Jeff Winkler and Ron Short.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial may be made to the VFW.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 12:00-2:00 prior to the service.

I met Melvin when I was 16 I put a new heat&air system in his and Jens
house and the treated me like I was there son so i serviced there system from then on. Thought of them as grand parents love them both and will miss them. Will see them again when my time comes I thank God to have known them.
