George William "Bill" Kitzinger, 68, of Indianapolis died of natural causes at his home early on April 2, 2012.

Born September 19, 1943 in Columbus, Indiana, Bill was the son of George Chester Kitzinger and Bernadine Littiken Kitzinger. He was preceded in death by his only sister Patricia Kitzinger Amaral. He married Dianna L. Norman on July 1, 1967. She survives.

Bill worked for many years at the Dalton and Payne Men's Clothing store in Columbus. He also owned the Kitzinger Cheese & Wine Shop of Columbus. He was a past board member of The Columbus Symphony Orchestra, which his Father and Mother founded, and of Garland Brook Cemetery where he will be buried.

Many people will remember the nighttime jazz show that Bill hosted in the 60's and 70's under his stage name Bill McCoy on WCSI radio. He also hosted some of the early Columbus Jazz Festival presentations, including one graced by an appearance by Mercer Ellington, son of Duke Ellington. Bill also played percussion instruments for various jazz groups and served as emcee for several jazz events at the Madam Walker Theater.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his children, Jason W. Kitzinger of Greenwood and Tiffany (John) Pendl of Carmel; and grandchildren, Jaida Margaret Kitzinger and Joseph Spenser Pendl; step grandson, Stephen Richard Pendl.

Funeral 10:30 Saturday Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street. Visitation 5 – 8 p.m. Friday.
