George Richard Merski, a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired business owner, died on August 15, 2014 at the age of 82. George, along with his sisters Elizabeth, Evelyn and Patricia, was one of four children of Joseph and Agnes Merski. He grew up in Ansonia, Connecticut, where he graduated from Ansonia High School in 1948. George was a US Air Force Navigator Bombardier of B-52's assigned to Strategic Air Command (SAC). George Richard Merski, a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired business owner, died on August 15, 2014 at the age of 82.

George, along with his sisters Elizabeth, Evelyn and Patricia, was one of four children of Joseph and Agnes Merski. He grew up in Ansonia, Connecticut, where he graduated from Ansonia High School in 1948.

George was a US Air Force Navigator Bombardier of B-52's assigned to Strategic Air Command (SAC). During his distinguished military career, he earned two National Defense Service Awards, five Korean Service Awards, a Good Conduct Award, three Armed Forces Reserve Awards, one United Nations Service Award, one For Combat Readiness Award, and four Military Merit Awards.

George met his wife Mary Elizabeth (Doodle) Bolin while they both were attending Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Together they had six children. George retired to his home in Oklahoma City where he enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and being outdoors. He was a guiding light to his grandsons, advising and mentoring them with their educational pursuits.

George is survived by his six children: Majel Langston, of Miami, OK; Michael Merski of Bristow, OK; Marcia McPhail and her partner Rex McPhail of Tulsa, OK; Mark Merski of Miami, OK; Michelle McKay of Lakeland, FL; and Melissa Merski of Bristow, OK. He was a grandfather to six: Carley Ann Langston and her husband of Austin, TX and their daughter Elizabeth; Carlos Langston of Tulsa, OK; Nathan McKay and his wife Sol of Clearwater, FL and their daughter Bella; Kate McPhail of Costa Mesa, CA; Alex McPhail of Midland, TX; and Malichi Merski of San Marcos, TX. He will be greatly missed by his friends and neighbors. A veteran's memorial service officiated by Chaplain Dan Capri will be held to honor George on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ft. Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, OK.
