Obituary

George Miller, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 following a lengthy illness. George has been a resident of Ventura for 53 years, having moved here from Topeka, Kansas. He was born in Queens, New York on December 29, 1940, to the late Raymond and Marie Miller. George was a proud American serving his country in the Air Force as an engine mechanic working on B-50, C-119 and the KC-97 Stratotanker. His last duty was with the 40th Organizational Maintenance Squad, SAC. Following his service in the Air Force, George was employed in the Aerospace Industry where he handled purchasing and contracting, retiring in 1996....
George Miller, 73, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 following a lengthy illness. George has been a resident of Ventura for 53 years, having moved here from Topeka, Kansas. He was born in Queens, New York on December 29, 1940, to the late Raymond and Marie Miller. George was a proud American serving his country in the Air Force as an engine mechanic working on B-50, C-119 and the KC-97 Stratotanker. His last duty was with the 40th Organizational Maintenance Squad, SAC.
Following his service in the Air Force, George was employed in the Aerospace Industry where he handled purchasing and contracting, retiring in 1996. George enjoyed traveling around the world. He and his wife, Lucille enjoyed many cruises; from Russia, to Hawaii, to Alaska, with their favorite trip being Italy to get in touch with George's ancestry.
George received a liver transplant on February 25, 1998 at UCLA Medical Center. Ever since, he has been an active supporter of Donate Life, an organization that educates people on the benefits of organ donation. He was also an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ventura.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lucille Miller; daughters, Diana Huntley (husband Don), Donna Klose (husband Dan) and Annemarie Sacher; grandchildren, Jessica, Becky, Sarah, Bryan, Rachel, Amanda and Michael; and his brothers, Ken and Ron.
Recitation of the Rosary, followed by a Prayer Vigil will be at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista, Ventura, on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 10800 Henderson Road, Ventura, on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with internment to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Road, Ventura, George will be laid to rest with military honors.
