George C. Roth, 90, of Davenport passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Ridgecrest. Following cremation, visitation will be from 1:30-2 pm on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Ridgecrest Koning Chapel, 4130 Northwest Boulevard in Davenport, where a memorial service will follow at 2 pm. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Genesis Health Services Foundation or Koning Chapel Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.RungeMortuary.com.
George married Rose Mickolayck on November 15, 1941. After 56 wonderful years and her passing, he married Lucy Braun on September 18, 1998.
After serving in the Merchant Marines for four years during World War II, George started working for Commonwealth Edison (Exelon) in Chicago. In 1970 he moved to Moline, Illinois where he helped open the Cordova Nuclear Generating Station. He retired from Exelon in 1980 as Assistant Engineer of the Cordova Station.
George was active in the Independent Order of Vikings in Moline. He served as Chief of the Thor Lodge in 1976. He was also a member of the Moline Masonic Lodge where he was chaplain for several years. After retirement George spent many years volunteering in schools.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (George) Grilley; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Roth; two grandsons, Matthew Roth and Casey Roth; brother Ted and sister, Mildred. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives; son, Glen; one brother and one sister.

I was fortunate to have Gorge as one of my uncles. I visited with George over the phone on February 9. He was mentally alert, sure of his salvation, and ready to go home to Jesus. We had prayer together.
