Georgia Cox Helms, age 99, of Monroe, passed away on November 25, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Max W. "Buck" Helms and her six siblings. Georgia is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Soule (Bill), Peggy Clontz and Janet Rushing (Joe); her son, Eddie Helms (Gwen); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Starnes.
The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 3:00pm Monday, November 28, 2016 at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. The funeral service will begin at 3:00pm in McEwen Funeral Home's Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Hospice of Union County for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110 or to Mt.
