Gerald "Jerry" Frey, 73 formerly of Union City, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 , in Florida after a short battle with cancer.

Jerry was born April 1, 1941, to Harold and Goldie Trethrake Frey in Battle Creek. He lived and attended school in the Athens and Tekonsha areas. He served in the army and worked for Lamb Knit, Homer Foundry, and General Motors Company. He married his wife of 48 years, Sharon Avery, on March 19, 1962, and they lived most of their lives in Union City.

Jerry was known to frequent the local Tekon Travel Plaza with father-in-law, Virgil "Pa Zeke" Avery, where they spent countless hours hassling the waitresses. He spent several summers at Leidy Lake Campground until moving to Hanes City, FL and spending his summers in Maine.

Jerry is survived by his daughters: Tamera Bailey of Coldwater, Christine (Steven) King, of Pennsylvania, and Dede (Paul) Palmateer, of Coldwater; grandchildren: Davis (Sara) Bailey, Robin Krugh, Robert Ratliff, Katelyn King, Amber (Chris) Hamlin, Cindy and Seth Palmateer; great grandchildren: Logan and Mara Bailey, Alexander and Riley Krugh, and Kyle and Braylon Hamlin; siblings: John(Karen) Frey of Florida and Marjorie Maughermen of Battle Creek: brothers-in law: Jerry (Dawn) and Terry (Donna) Avery; sister-in-law: Nancy Avery: special nephew: Gabe Avery; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by wife; parents; in-laws: Virgil and Roena Avery; brothers; LD and James Frey; brothers –in-law: Butch Avery and Mike Maughermen ; and great grandson: Angle Mathew Torrez.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday, April 3 at Putnam's of Tekonsha and from 12-1pm Saturday, April 4 followed by funeral services at 1:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
