Gerald Creasy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 10, 2017.

Gerald was born May 19th, 1929 and was called home by the Lord September 9th, 2017. He lived a full life – was loved by many – and will be missed by anyone lucky enough to have known him. He had a larger than life smile, a quick wit and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. The greatest love in his life was his family, and he showed this love every day. We will miss him more than words could ever express. Private family service only - Condolences can be mailed to PO Box 844, Conroe, TX 77305.

Uncle Gerald came into my world through marriage to my lovely Aunt Jane, when I was a young girl. They stood as a statuesque couple who folded us all into their life and love... (Mom/Margaret,
Dad/Elliott{Jane's oldest brother}, and the five lively Ransom children).
We would descend upon there beautifully decorated and orderly home on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Jane and
Gerald,as they came to be known, were infinitely hospitable and rode the high tide of our family quite gracefully.
I remember Gerald and my Dad jovially challenging each other to a 2nd or 3rd helping of Jane's delicious turkey and dressing, gravy and scrumptious pies. Seeing my hard-working,somewhat serious Father laugh and joke-around made me happy. Gerald brought out the fun in Dad and in al of us,as well.
I learned that teasing could be loving from Uncle Gerald. He always infused warmth and care in his teasing, and, as a result, I always felt he liked me.
We all felt significant to Uncle Gerald. He noticed us and inquired about our interests and activities throughout the years.
In his own family,I especially felt his affection when he called Jane "Babe" and in his pride upon becoming a father as Karyn and Julie arrived. He loved to brag on "his girls" and their accomplishments over time.
Gerald's passion for golf was legendary. He always had a story to tell: Be it a self-deprecating one about his golf game gone -wrong or a perfectly crafted prank he pulled on a treasured golf buddy.

Uncle Gerald, I will miss your buoyant, affable, enthusiastic , light-hearted personality. Thank you for enriching our lives through being a stellar example of family.
Your love lives on in us all.
Joanie Ransom Carruthers

The Ransom family was so enriched when our dad's sister, Jane, married Gerald Creasy. I was a young teenager when Aunt Jane first brought Gerald to meet the family, which included my parents and four younger siblings. To put it mildly, we were a handful. From the day we met him and throughout the many times each year we had family gatherings, Uncle Gerald always had a smile and a joke for each of us and hosted our crew graciously. He was one of the adults who took the time to visit with us and help shape our lives. Uncle Gerald and Aunt Jane were there to welcome our spouses, children and grandchildren and celebrate the events of our lives. He and Jane took us to the Texas coast and then had us all over for crab boils. He included us in setting up and playing with his train layout. And, Uncle Gerald kept us fully up-to-date on his golf games as well as the oil and gas industry. We always knew how much Uncle Gerald loved Aunt Jane and his children and their families and his extended family. He was truly a man who knew the meaning of family. Uncle Gerald, you will be missed.

Dan & Chris Ransom

Dear Aunt Jane,
You and Uncle Gerald have a special place in my heart.
Growing up in Houston less than a couple miles away allowed the Ransom Kids lots of time with with both of you.
Your house was always so neat and clean and best of all, we could watch the drive-in movies over your back fence. I will take the liberty to speak for Billy and Danny on couple of matters.
We loved to come and visit to play with Pepe, your chihuahua. I think Gerald was a bit worried at times that Pepe was safe with the the two of us.
I think our parents, Elliott and Margaret, were always a bit on edge during our visits. There was always the looming threat of us breaking something and our noise and activity level might have dissuaded you from ever wanting children.
Gerald's Train set was fascinating and we loved to watch the trains run through the complicated tracks and all the extras.
I hope that Bill and I were not too much of a burden as you added to your family. I still remember when Karyn and Julie arrived on the scene. I am sure Margie and Joanie were glad to get to hold those sweet, good smelling little girls.
One of my strongest memories is of how much laughter was part of our visits. Gerald kept my Dad laughing and I always thought of him as one of my Dad's best friends. In later years I began to appreciate Gerald's ability and love of telling a story. He always seemed positive and ready to go with another tale. I honestly don't remember him ever complaining or being negative about anything.
I remember Gerald as something of a schemer when I think about his water well in the back yard in Houston. He could save money on watering his yard. The long distance telephone scheme was never fully understood by most of us but seemed to be successful!
Gerald had a great mind and amazing memory. I remember as a kid ,hearing him describe golfing trips in detail not to brag but for the joy of the experience.
Humility and Love were core features of Gerald Creasy. Through out my adult life, every encounter with him revolved around him asking about me and my family. He always praised me but would ask for a free medical exam!
His sense of humor, laugh and smile will be with me forever. I love you both and will miss him greatly.

Love,

Dan

PS
Thanks for letting share your birthday,
we won't say for how long that has been going on!
