Gerald "Gerry" Joseph Fredrick, 67, of Alpharetta passed away Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, April 25, 2014 at Northview Church of Christ, Roswell. Interment will be held 2:30 pm Monday, April 28, 2014 in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton.

He was born in St Martinville, Louisiana in the heart of Cajun Country on October 18th, 1946, to the late Claven Frederick and Ursule Carlin. Gerry graduated from New Iberia High School in 1964 and enlisted in the Air Force.

During his tour of duty in Wiesbaden, Germany. Gerry worked as a Flight Planner at Air Force Head Quarters Germany In September 1966, Gerry met the love of his life, Jeannie, who was living in Switzerland, at the famous Munich Oktober Fest. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Gerry returned to the United States to be reunited with Jeannie and they were married in Washington, D.C. on July 6, 1968.

As newlyweds, the couple moved back to Gerry's home state of Louisiana, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Pre-Law in 1972 and his Masters in Public Administration in 1973, both from the University of Southwest Louisiana (now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette). He continued his studies, all but dissertation, for a PhD at Louisiana State University.

Gerry took his family to Sydney, Australia in 1981 where they were founding members of the Sydney Church of Christ. After 8 wonderful years in that wonderful country, Gerry and the family moved to London, England where he worked full-time as a ministry leader and administrator for the London Church of Christ until 1992. That year, they returned the United States moving to Philadelphia where Gerry served as an Elder in the Greater Philadelphia Church of Christ. In 1993, he took on an additional role as CFO & CAO for HOPE Worldwide, a non-profit organization eventually serving the under-privileged in 40 countries. In 2003, with an empty nest, Gerry and Jeannie, moved to the Atlanta area to be close to their daughter, son-in-law and soon-to-be first grandchild. Gerry has been an elder, leader and beloved member of the Northview Church of Christ for the last 11 years.

Gerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeannie; his beloved children, Mark and wife, Xochitl, of Vancouver, BC; Lora and husband, George Young of Cumming, GA; and Phillip and Heather Fredrick of Portland, OR. He was the proud Papa of five grandchildren; Grayson, Ella Claire and Adelaide Young, and Reese and Hayes Fredrick. He is also survived by his three brothers; Ricky Frederick, Terry Frederick, Robert Frederick; and his step-mother, Shirley Frederick.

Gerry is also preceded in death by his brother, CJ Frederick of Houston, Texas.
