He was also honored with a bronze plaque in the Gerry Lane Championship Plaza at Alex Box Stadium.

Gerry Lane is survived by his wife of 55 years, Faye Rogan Lane; sons David and wife Cindy of Thousand Oaks, California, Eric and wife Lisa in Baton Rouge, and daughter Saundra of Bandera, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Eldon Lane & wife Eulonda, of Douglassville, Texas, and grandchildren Tyler, Ashton, Will, Jordan, Jillian, Jacqueline, and Jackson Lane. Saundra, Mrs. Faye, Eric & Family:

Mr. Gerry left an enourmous footprint on this earth. What a man to be proud of. It was sad driving up to do the Anniversary event Saturday knowing such a big part of that world was gone. I will always remember "the Gerry Lane" head that I tried so hard to enhance and make pretty each rodeo season. Hope I did it justice! Just one more happy memory. When we bought our Trailblazer after Katrina he helped us! Hard to copy such a pattern of kindness, leadership, joy , and giver of much. Some things, some time just can't be duplicated.

Peace be with all of you,
Carole O'Neil

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

When hearing of Mr. Lanes passing I could not stop thinking of the many conversations we would have in the mornings at the dealership . He was always the first one there . He reminding me on a daily basis that if I wanted to be successful I would have to remember theses things. Be early, make a plan and write it down, do 3% percent More and my favorite : the inspiration of desperation and the whiplash of necessity . I thank God for allowing me to gain form this mans wisdom and experiences . i will never forget you Boss. Rest in peace , even though I know you won't be resting with a new pair of wings.

Eric,

I love you my brother and you know that my heart and prayers are with you and your family.

I can remember the first time we met your dad and bought our first car from him when he was on the Gulf Coast 40 years ago. What always amazed us was that he never changed in his love toward people.

Lives will never be the same without Gerry Lane. He will always live in our hearts.

Simply put: A great man!

You know as well as anyone that the Lord Jesus will take care of everything that all of you have to go through.

You and your family have our deepest sympathy.

My thoughts are with your family during this hard time! Mr. Lane was a friend of my grandfather, Hillar C. Moore, Jr. I remember sitting next to him and his wife at an awards banquet. Mr. Gerry had me laughing the whole night and even called me out for eating my dessert first! Just from our brief meetings I could tell what a wonderful person he was! Your family is in my prayers!

Saundra, I was so saddened when I heard of your father's passing. I knew Gerry only briefly from encounters at the A.C. Lewis YMCA. I bought a Saturn from GERRY LANE SATURNS back in 2005. When his Saturn dealership moved, I asked Gerry if I would still be able to get servicing on my Saturn closer to town since the dealership had moved way out past Seigen. He was most accommodating, saying I could bring it into the Florida st. Chevrolet dealership and they could access my car history there and service it there. He was genuinely concerned about my satisfaction .... a testiment to his great success. He surely will be missed.
