Doris, Michael, Bill, Anne and Patricia -

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Gerald. He was a wonderful friend and neighbour for my parents, Rea and Stan Davenport. I saw him just a few weeks ago and he was still so upbeat and cheerful, despite his illness. He will be missed by many.

Such a wonderful man. Doris we are so supset. We loved hearing of his adventures. Especially within the past few years of your motor trip up the northern coast of Quebec to Labrador. It was a gravel road and I said to Gerald what about your windshield. He said that he may have to replace it one or two times but that was to be expected. We, especially my husband Jim, or J.A as many call him enjoyed listening to his adventures one of which was building of the airport in Gander, NFLD. Four years ago he called J.A. over and said lets go up on the Church roof to check out the repairs after a fire. J.A. is not good on a ladder but up Gerald went and he watched him climb up so elegantly. What a man and friend to Karen and I in church and Probus. We will miss him very much.

Mr. Stewart was father to my high school friend Bill Stewart, but he was much more. When I got married in 1992 in Michigan, Bill had relocated to Vancouver, and was not able to make it to my wedding - but his dad graciously agreed to be one of two church ushers seating guests. Looked pretty good in his tux.

I will miss Mr. Stewart's wisdom, booming laugh and down-to-earth common sense, Those farm boys from the Sioux really are something special
