Auburn - Gerard J. Vaillancourt, 89, of Lewiston, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at The Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, with his family by his side. He was born in Van Buren, Maine on October 16, 1927, the son of the late Cyril and Melina (Erideau) Vaillancourt. He lived most of his life in Lewiston where he attended local schools through High School. On January 31, 1974, he married Alice Daigle in Auburn, Maine. He worked for over 33 years for the Lewiston Public Works in the Water Department until he retired as a foreman in 1989. He was a former member of St. Mary's Parish in Lewiston, The Pastime Club, 20M Club and the Montagnard Club. He enjoyed puttering around fixing anything that came his way. Horn pout fishing, dancing and gardening were some of his favorite pastimes. He had a particular affection for the song: "Knock Three Times". His greatest affection though was for his family and the time spent with them. Gerard is survived by his wife Alice Vaillancourt, 7 Children: Michael L. Vaillancourt and wife Cathy of Georgetown, Patricia Willis of Lewiston, Sylvia Raymond and husband David of Lewiston, Roger Vaillancourt and wife Cathy of Lewiston, Brian Richie and wife Mary-Lou of Auburn, Bruce Richie and wife Vivian of Auburn, Cynthia White and significant other Keith Jolin of Lewiston, 26 Grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter: Dean Vaillancourt, 2 sons: Patrick and Danny Vaillancourt, daughter-in-law: Jeannine Vaillancourt and several grandchildren. Visitation will be held at The Fortin Funeral Home in Lewiston on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at The Funeral Home on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
