Gertrude Marie Bacon, 77, of Port Arthur passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Mid Jefferson Hospital. Gertrude was born, October 17, 1934, in Port Arthur to the late Lucius and Elvidge Gautreaux. Gertrude was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and will be greatly missed by many in her community. Her family describes Gertrude as a loving mother and devoted wife. Her greatest joy and achievement in life were raising her family.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Elroy and Isaac Gautreaux, sister, Ruby Miley, daughter, Rebecca Lynn Bacon and son, James Pierre Bacon.
Gertrude was survived by her husband of 61 years, Leo Bacon, sons, Lawrence Paul Bacon and his wife Teresa of Port Arthur; Daniel Lucius Bacon and his wife Betty of Port Arthur; daughter, Vicky Elizabeth Hardin and her husband Ronald of Groves; grandchildren, Lisa Hardin, Sarah Hill, Dawn Castillo, Mindy Anderson, Ronnie Hardin, Jr., Holly Bacon, Windy Patterson, Daniel Bacon, Wesley Hardin, Tori Hardin, Rylee Bacon, Joshua Franks, Michael Carcara, and 22 great grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
